Dr. Steve Wood is a second generation orthodontist and has been practicing orthodontics in Weatherford for more than 20 years. His Texas roots go back more than 130 years when his great grandfather started the Lucchese Boot Company in San Antonio; and his wife, Stacey, is a 7th generation Texan.
He earned his Bachelor of Science at Auburn University, a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and then completing his certification in orthodontics, as well as earning a Master of Science in Oral Biology, at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He is also a member of the prestigious national honor society Phi Kappa Phi and dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Kappa Chapter.
A father of four, Dr. Wood enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children, ages 22, 16, 16 and 9. He is also an All-American swimmer who qualified for the 1980 and 1984 USA Olympic Swimming Trials while attending Auburn University. He continues to be an active competitive swimmer and has set more than 20 Master Swimming World Records. He also enjoys cycling, running, and wood working.
Dr. Wood has served his community in a variety of ways over the years, e.g. Weatherford College Foundation, Parker County Committee on Aging, Rotary Club of Weatherford, Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Tarrant County, Weatherford Noon Lions Club, and the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce. He was also awarded the Weatherford Citizen of the Year in 2007.
For Dr. Wood, his career in orthodontics is rewarding because it is fun to watch each patient evolve, along with being a part of their lives and new smiles. A great smile helps build self-esteem and self-confidence!
