A native of Virginia and former patient of Butterfoss and Barton Orthodontics, Dr. Pappas graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Dr. Pappas received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University. After dental school, Dr. Pappas was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Air Force as a dentist. During his service with the Air Force, he completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency. It was during this time he met his wife, Kelly, and had an opportunity to be stationed and serve at Travis Air Force Base, California and Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. After his time in the military, he completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa, where he finished with a Master of Science in Orthodontics and received a certificate in Orthodontics.
Dr. Pappas enjoys giving back to the community through the Mission of Mercy Projects, where he has traveled to underserved areas of Virginia providing dental care. He has also provided dental services to rural communities in Jamaica and Honduras.
In his spare time, Dr. Pappas likes to play sand volleyball and soccer, eat burritos, search for his golf ball in the woods, and spend time with his friends, family, and two dogs. Dr. Pappas and Kelly are looking forward to meeting patients and their families in our practice and community. Come meet him at our Grafton, Hampton, and Gloucester locations!
