Orthodontist Dr. Lori Smith has been creating beautiful smiles in Georgia since 1990.
Dr. Smith grew up in Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University and the University of Louisiana for her undergraduate degree, graduating in 1984 Cum Laude with a distinction in Biology. She then attended Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans (LSUSD), where she graduated at the top of her Dental class in 1988. She was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, as well as the C. Edmund Kells Honorary Society, where she served as president. She then completed her specialty training in orthodontics at LSUSD, where she served as the first female president of the Orthodontic Alumni Association.
Dr. Smith is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a certification held by less than 25% of orthodontists in the United States. She was invited to present her board cases at both National and local societies, and was also invited by the board to publish numerous cases for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Georgia Association of Orthodontists, as well as other organizations. She served on the executive board of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists, where she was ultimately elected by her peers in the orthodontic community to serve as the first female president. She served as an examiner for the LSU Orthodontics Mock Boards for three years. Dr. Smith has also been invited to serve as an examiner for the American Board of Orthodontics on multiple occasions.
Dr. Smith resides in Marietta, Georgia and has three children, Ryan, Kathryn, and Harrison. Outside the office, Dr. Smith enjoys dancing, jewelry making, and playing with her children and dogs. She has served as room parent numerous times for her children’s classes. She is also an active member of St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church.
