I feel so fortunate to be an orthodontist and have the opportunity to meet, get to know, and work with so many wonderful patients and families. It is so rewarding to see the impact that a great bite and smile can have in people’s lives!
Laura Edwards is from Halifax, NS, Canada where she graduated from Dalhouse University in 1996 with her BSc in Biology with distinction and her DDS in 2000. She graduated first in her dental school class and received the University Medal in Dentistry for outstanding academic and clinical performance. Her education continued in Ann Arbor where she obtained her MS in Orthodontics from the Uniersity of Michigan in 2003. After graduation, Dr Edwards entered private practice as well as joined the faculty of the Department of Orthodontics at U or M where she taught until 2005.
Dr. Edwards has practiced orthodontics since 2003. She has always loved science and finds great fulfillment in combining that love with the art of creating a great smile, all while building connections with her patients and their families. Dr. Edwards is driven to provide the highest quality orthodontics, guided by the latest education and research. Through continuing education she stays up-to-date on orthodontic systems and new technology and methods.
Since finishing her Master’s degree, Dr. Edwards has completed an Invisalign® Aligner Intensive Fellowship and an Invisalign® Masters Course, along with numerous other trainings.
Laura and her husband, Sean, met in dental school in Nova Scotia Cananda. They moved to Ann Arbor after completing dental school so he could pursue his MD and oral surgery residency and she could complete her Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of Michigan. Currently, Sean is Chief of Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan.
The couple has four children, Aidan, Megan, Conor, and Ryan; and their dog, Trudeau, completes the family. The children attend Ann Arbor public schools and participate in crew, robotics, field hockey, dive, soccer, and ice hockey. Supporting the children’s interests and activities keeps their parents busy.
Dr. Edwards loves spending time with family and friends. She is often found on the side of a: river at a regatta; field for field hockey or soccer; ice rink for hockey; or a pool for a dive meet. The family enjoys many outdoor activities, as well as taking advantage of all the entertainment opportunities and great restaurants the Ann Arbor area offers. Laura and Sean feel fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community.
