Dr. Alan is originally from Athens, OH. He attended Wake Forest University prior to dental school at the Ohio State University. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Alan practiced general dentistry in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. After serving in the Navy, he spent two years as an instructor at the Ohio State University Dental School.
From there, he went to the University of Michigan where he received his specialty training with a Masters in Orthodontics. He has been providing orthodontic care in the Iron Mountain and Kingsford area for over 30 years and continues to be actively engaged in practice.
He routinely attends the American Association of Orthodontists annual meeting for continuing education in order to provide the best care possible. Orthodontics is truly a passion for Dr. Fulks. One of his greatest compliments is when parents bring their children in for treatment, and state, “I was one of your patients when I was a kid!”
His interests outside of orthodontics include sports, outdoor activities of all kinds, attending local community activities and spending time with his three grown children and grandchildren.
He also served on the Dickinson County Hospital Board of Trustees for over four years and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingsford. He is a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists.
